1. Scope
This page covers how the Rowloft app and the public site (rowloft.com) handle data. v1 has no backend of our own and no accounts. Marketing-site analytics are described in §3.5 and are separate from in-app telemetry.
2. What never happens
Rowloft v1 has no account, no sign-in, and no user directory of our own. There is no email step and no registration wall anywhere in it.
Your pattern files, images and text, and anything derived from them, have no network path out of the app. Nothing you make is uploaded, and nothing is ever used to train anything. There is no account and no Rowloft sync backend. Core projects, counting, patterns and stash work offline; store billing/entitlement uses the network, and the app sends no usage analytics in 1.0 (see §3.2). Product data lives in a local SQLite database (drift).
The store promise is scoped to product data: "No account. No pattern upload. Your projects stay on this phone." The onboarding card says: "Your projects and pattern files stay on this phone. Rowloft has no account or sync server." These statements do not deny the RevenueCat/store billing communication described below.
3. Data we do touch
3.1 Purchases and entitlement
Free, plus Pro at $14.99 as a one-time purchase — a non-consumable in-app purchase covering every v1.x release. v1 has no subscription SKU at all. Entitlement runs through RevenueCat on both platforms.
Purchases go through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your full card number. Entitlement follows RevenueCat and the store receipt; while you are offline the app uses its local cache, and a failed check never drops a paying user back to Free.
Restore purchase is reachable from the paywall and from Settings. "Delete everything" does not touch a purchase you already made — the receipt sits with the store.
3.2 In-app telemetry
Rowloft 1.0 sends no usage analytics from the app. The app carries a fixed allow-list of eight anonymous events that is switched off in this release: no analytics key ships with the build, so no event ever leaves the device.
If a later release turns that allow-list on, the app will ask for your consent first and let you withdraw it in Settings, and this page and the store data declarations will be updated before it ships. The eight events would be app_open · project_created · counter_tap (no value) · pattern_imported (type only) · live_activity_started · paywall_viewed · purchase_completed · export_used, and they would never carry pattern filenames, pattern contents or page counts, project names, yarn names, your own name, or any free text.
Settings carries no usage switch because there is nothing to switch in 1.0.
3.3 On-device storage
A local SQLite database holds your projects, counters and counter events, pattern file paths and reading positions, pattern notes, yarn entries, and your settings — including US/UK terminology, theme and haptics.
Export is free and lossless: projects and counts as JSON and CSV, with your pattern files shared exactly as they are. "Delete everything" clears the device after a second confirmation.
3.4 Sync
v1 has no cloud sync and no accounts, and collects no account or sync data ahead of any such feature.
3.5 Marketing site
This public site (rowloft.com) uses PostHog for anonymous, pseudonymised product analytics — page views and a fixed allow-list of navigation and store-CTA events. Session recording and autocapture are both off. These pages show no cookie or analytics consent banner. Marketing-site analytics are separate from in-app telemetry, and contain no pattern files, project names or any free text. Provider: PostHog.

No other vendors are involved. We do not sell your data to advertisers.
5. Retention and deletion
- Data on your device is yours to control; see export and "Delete everything" above.
- Purchase records held by the store and by RevenueCat are kept as long as the store and our accounting require.
